For three weeks, I shadowed a graduate student's research on improving drought resistance in maize. I learned a complete genetic engineering workflow, from analyzing gene expression with Real Time PCR, to infecting seeds with agrobacterium. The program is funded by USDA's NextGen grant, and organized by Bergen Community College and Rutgers SEBS.
