As a mentee for the Publishing 360 program with Girls Write Now in 2022-2023...
I attended monthly workshops, which focused on niche art mediums/genres. I was a member of a smaller core group that met monthly, sharing open dialogue about an intentional, healing writing practice. My mentor and I met weekly to share art and life. During this academic year, I published my poem, Bad Omens in the Girls Write Now 2023 Anthology: On the Other Side of Everything. My reflective essay, The Tide, is published in the 25 year celebration book: On the Art of Craft: A Guidebook to Collaborative Storytelling.
As a mentee for the Writing 360 program with Girls Write Now in 2021-2022...
I attended monthly workshops that guide young women through their early writing careers and into the professional world. I met weekly with a science communications mentor. The focus of these meetings were revising fictional pieces and discussing articles/updates in the science writing world.
My long-term project for Girls Write Now is showcased on my "author page:" an excerpt of longer science-fiction story. An excerpt of the Lotus Flower is published in Taking Root: The Girls Write Now 2022 Anthology.
During the summer of 2022, I assisted in the design and production of Stories, a Girls Write Now platform dedicated to supporting the voices of female-identifying or gender expansive artists. I also designed the landing page for Taking Root: The Girls Write Now 2022 Anthology.
